THE REVIEW

Before reviewing this album, an obligatory preface must be made: the Kings of Leon are coming off the massive success of the previous album Only By the Night which on one hand has catapulted them grandly into the mainstream scene with Grammys, high-profile tours, and constant radio play of "Sex on Fire" and "Use Somebody," but on the other hand, has made early fans and so-called "Hipsters" who appreciated the first two excellent albums, especially Youth and Young Manhood, which were anything but commercial, turn up their noses.

This new chapter Come Around Sundown constitutes a poorly executed attempt to return to their roots, an album largely dull that doesn’t take off and requires at least three listens to appreciate even minimally. 
The album lacks the verve and sharp energy of the first two previous chapters, nor the catchy singles like "Sex on Fire".
It is an album to discourage anyone who has just approached the Tennessee band, barely appreciable for those who are fans and are willing to spend more time on it.
To draw a parallel, it is like Be Here Now by Oasis, a poorly inspired, overproduced album (is it said that way in Italian?) that doesn’t even have catchy singles.

The only two tracks I appreciated and listened to multiple times are "Radioactive" and "the End" (no, it’s not the Doors one) and "the Face", "Beach Side" is a decent piece lacking praise or blame, and the rest is not much.
All in all, a disappointing album.
