Two DeBaser reviews highlight Archy Marshall's work as King Krule: his 2013 debut 6 Feet Beneath the Moon is noted as unexpectedly mature for a teenager, and A New Place 2 Drown (2015, released under his name) is described as a darker, mostly instrumental, multimedia-driven record. Reviewers emphasize a baritone voice and a blend of jazz, hip-hop, electronica and post-punk influences.
