Well, usually in my city, shops are hidden in mazes of winding streets... some are very small and dark, very dark... when you enter, you always have the feeling of suffocating, and the chorus of "excuse me, excuse me..." becomes eternal.
The moment I risked losing the eternal—that is, the moment to return home to my girlfriend who had made chicken for me—I was reminded of the dark and tempting cover of FIRE DANCES.
A masterpiece by Killing Joke, which I always had on cassette, that from the case would whisper to me: "Feast of blazes, feast of blazes!"... I bought it.
My girlfriend, Emma, when she saw what I brought with me said: "But monk devil! Always these grim things you have to buy! Not once do you come home with Manu Chao or Peter Gabriel or...." I put a hand on her mouth and immobilized her arms behind her back with the other... I asked Mario, who lives with us but doesn't exist, to open the player and insert the CD... FIRE DANCES! The woman on the cover, with fire on her palm, came to life, and Emma and I transformed into punks dancing like crazy at the dawn of the apocalypse!
No more chicken! The dinner was over...

First track: "The Gathering"...the call to gather, expressing valor and knowledge; I grabbed her thighs and slammed her onto the table, down went all the plates with chicken and salad. Second track: "Funny Games", very funky, yes, echoes of funk in rides that over the years will transform into the industrial outbursts of Ministry and Sacra Corona Unita; but I had already started working, Emma moaned, I licked her legs, more and more slowly... woha, here comes "Dominator", I am the dominator, funky fury and electro madness, electro insanity!
How much electro flour in our hair when we started making love... and there in the throes, we realized that Killing Joke are the most bizarre expression of Post Punk, the product of an enormous mind: Jaz Coleman, capable of transitioning from the early punk to the "contemporary" music he composes today for the Prague Philharmonic (all true).
Right there in the beastly thrusting, amidst screams and shouts, the impatient beats of the neighbors, I heard Coleman's debut screams in "Song and Dance" with Youth's serpentine guitar, the great busybody of the band, always moving there like my loins on the hot fire of my mare.
How hot it is today in the kitchen... as I move forward, ehehehehe, I open the window a little with one hand and it's time for "Harlequin", a very strange track, Harlequin appears at the beginning and bows, I swear you can hear it! Here Killing Joke become simply divine, obsessive rhythms, a medieval dance for creative dead... what a thing!
But to finally conclude, the oriental carpet that most represented the joy of Emma and me that day was "Lust Almighty"... I pump with you, you enjoy, you tell me; you are the she-devil, and in the obsessive dance "WEEE, LA LA LA EH!" and in touching between the cutlery: "WEEEE, LAAA LALA EH!"
Rediscover it!

Tracklist Lyrics and Videos

01   The Gathering (03:11)

We go - to the gathering
We go - to the common feeling
We go - anyway we can
We go - to the basic man

We go - get back my senses
We go - with a basic man
We go - and a basic feeling
We go - to the gathering

We go - to the gathering
We all go to the gathering

02   Fun and Games (04:05)

03   Rejuvenation (04:00)

i heard the horn sound out the call
air began to shake
because it's hunting time again
senses start to wake
so you get up on your feet
and you gather into packs
and then the packs become a horde
then we all begin to laugh
take my hand now - let's go
find that place now - let's go
let's make haste now - let's go
because it's taking shape - new man come along
instinct overtake
singing as we go
war machine inside
push me further still
so you get up on your feet
and you gather into hordes
eliminate the obstacle
start to make your way
then the clouds begin to move
and my heart begins to pull
because the lady's taking hold again
i saw her taking shape
where the old will always die
when winter comes along
and man shall fear the storm again
all begin to move
new man come along - go

06   Feast of Blaze (03:35)

Move on - light up the way
Banner and festival where the wine and plenty flow
We'll go - let's make our way
Because the flame within our hearts telling us to move towards
The feast of blaze la-la

Each day - move closer to
Where the noise uplifts my soul, where the "wilful" man shall go
Start here - let's make our way
And the mess the fools have made won't stop us in our way
The feast of blaze la-la

The feast of blaze la-la

Let's go - light up the way
Banner and festival where the wine and plenty flow
We'll go - until that day
When the sun will shine again and then we'll all move towards
The feast of blaze la-la

Dominator soul he sing "I'll have my way"
Move in on them

Move in on them

Dominator soul he'll take what's in his way

Fire Dances steers towards a sound more accessible to the masses, but the band does not betray its roots.

If it were released today under the name of any neo band, it would have been greeted with immense enthusiasm by critics.
