The Profile

Killing Floor is an English blues-rock band formed in London in the late 1960s, led by guitarist Mick Clarke and singer/harmonicist Bill Thorndycraft. They released a self-titled debut and the follow-up Out of Uranus (recorded 1970, released 1971) and reunited in 2003 to record Zero Tolerance.

The band originally included Mick Clarke (guitar), Bill Thorndycraft (vocals/harmonica), Stuart McDonald (bass), Lou Martin (piano) and Bazz/Buzz Smith (drums). They played London clubs alongside acts such as Yes and Captain Beefheart. Out of Uranus shows a shift to a harder, Zeppelin-influenced sound; Lou Martin appears on one track of that album. Commercial failure after Out of Uranus led to the band's breakup; the original lineup reunited in 2003 for tours and a new album, Zero Tolerance.

A positive, detailed DeBaser review celebrates Killing Floor's shift from piano-driven blues toward harder, Zeppelin-influenced rock on Out of Uranus. The review highlights Mick Clarke's guitar, Lou Martin's piano (on one track), and the band's 2003 reunion and Zero Tolerance recording.
