I apologize in advance for the telegraphic nature of this review. The fact is, I know very little about this guy, so I have to rely once again on instinct. And my instinct tells me that Kevin m Kirker is quite curious and will go far.
He defines himself as "the king of HarPcore"—you read that right, Harp—and he writes gentle little songs that sometimes remind one of the never-forgotten Elliott Smith. The sweet one, from "I'd rather be quiet now" or "oh, well, ok," to be clear. Although he doesn’t achieve the same grace as Elliott, in the two albums by K.mKirker "And now you'll live forever" and "Our story now begins," completely and freely downloadable from his site http://www.kevinmkirker.com/, there is a good predisposition towards emotion and direct communication.
Music without frills, sung and played on tiptoe. Voice and harp.
Sure, there is still a lack of guidance, and the songs become a bit tiring over time. However, there are tracks that, from the title alone, promise well: "People grow from trees" or "More populous than grains of sand." Sometimes particular chords are touched, indeed.
