Eyes That See in the Dark

This record originally belonged to my grandparents' home, and since I was interested in any artist I had even remotely heard of, I took it home with me.

First listen: it doesn't knock my socks off. Oh well, maybe with a second listen, it will grow on me.

Second listen: it's good, come on, but something doesn't add up.

So I did some research. Damn, this man signed a song on the soundtrack of "The Big Lebowski," and the film drove me crazy. Damn, he also participated in USA For Africa, surely they didn't just take the first people who came along.

On paper, a good career indeed, but something was off. I dug deeper and discovered the secret: Kenny Rogers was a COUNTRY singer!

I felt like vomiting, I can't possibly force myself to like country too, I'll be the laughingstock of the family, me who boasts excellent musical taste! From connoisseur to simple bumpkin! My God, country! How far I've fallen!

The worst part is that I still like it today! I can't remember a single title, but the duets with that guy from the Bee Gees and with Dolly Parton are great, and I listen to it gladly.

Now I'm trying to give it two stars, but my finger resists, and the record, with seductive words (inside my head), convinces me to assign it three stars.

My God, how far I've fallen!
