Millions of soundproof booths floating in the ether.
This is the image when listening to KLO (missing an "O"), a former member of the English noisepop/shoegaze band History Of Apple Pie. In this dazzling role as a producer, our KLO perfectly navigates between bubbling, tribalized techno and dirty kraut (Rhythms of Factory Floor above all).
The music is closely tied to a dreampop atmosphere that often spills over into Trip-Hop (A.R. Kane teaches), but maintains a more clubbing version (the recent Yaeji).
The contribution of Jenny Hval in Anxi is more than fitting. The work rides on something not too abstract (Holly Herndon) but not overtly pop either (Grimes), occasionally seeking some experimentalism (Jessy Lanza, Laurel Halo).
One of the albums of the year. Recommended.
