The project Keep The Promise rises from the ashes of Browbeat, an Italian metal band that over the years gained quite a bit of acclaim but probably did not fully represent the artistic side of its leader M.V. in recent times. Inspirations were soon rekindled once this new chapter was put together, supported by musicians from To Shed Skin. And here we are with the much-awaited debut album, “A Peaceful Mission of War,” you might be wondering what it's about... It's a hardcore production done with guts, where old school and new school find the right balance. A decidedly brutal product (even the term ignorant—in a good way—might fit), which doesn’t offer oxygen to the listener but rather suffocates them in a metal-oriented sound grip that eventually prevails. It's a work that bases its life on the anger present in its lyrics, with strong and never cliché themes conveyed with an abundant dose of hatred by the two singers. “A Peaceful Mission of War” has the classic hostility typical of Boston’s hardcore productions, and it would not look out of place in a catalog of a label like Beatdown Hardwear, composed mostly of decent folks. Early Hatebreed, Full Blown Chaos, and Last Charge are without a doubt the first names I would mention for stylistic references, but what matters is that despite everything, this debut disc is quite exhilarating, whether for its “badass” parts typical of NYHC or perhaps for the musicians' desire to break through. That said, if you're a fan of the rawer and more extreme side of hardcore, here is a debut more than enviable, that of Keep The Promise.
