Fuck vapor. I'm in the mood for evocative music that lets me sink my teeth into the sincere nostalgia of everything from the '80s that should be forgotten without regret, music to surrender to peacefully without the hassle of having to watch your back every now and then for the unpleasant suspicion of being taken for a Q-low. I'm in the mood for flights of fancy into sci-fi flavored with digital fonts and real big buttons to press.
Retro electronics made with '80s synths. Synthwave. That's what I think they call this stuff. It might work.
I'm looking for a name. Kavinsky pops up. Real name Vincent Belorgey. Yet another Frenchman dishing out electronic music with kilos of sincere '80s nostalgia, and old enough to pull it off. Coming out of the Daft Punk circle, he's stuck with the idea of presenting himself to the public with an alter ego. Kavinsky is actually an imaginary character used in videos; a sort of cyborg, if I understood correctly, dressed in Marty McFly style, who took the place of a boy who died in '86 (see Wikipedia).
His music seems to satisfy the craving I mentioned. However, there's a small problem in my opinion; Kavinsky does well with his starts, but then he can't venture too far from what he says in the first few seconds. 'Blizzard' and 'ProtoVision' are my favorites from this disc.
