THE REVIEW

First self-produced EP after three years of activity for Karnae, an Italian band hailing from the northeast of our country, an area where metal is well developed and opportunities are certainly greater.

The five members, coming from various bands in the underground scene, attempt to present themselves to the public with only 4 tracks with diverse influences, which however have a single common thread, metalcore. Unfortunately, they struggle a bit to get noticed, despite the guitar work, which manages to showcase good underlying technique. However, the songs as a whole fail to evoke from the listener what one would expect from a demo like this, that is, the energy and explosiveness that tend to dissipate the moment you take a few seconds to pause and reflect, and when the clean vocals come into play, there is something that needs to be fixed.
Despite everything, the first and violent "Lucifer...", influenced by thrash-death and hardcore, manages to earn some applause, especially for the tempo changes. The following "Soulless" takes inspiration from what has already been seen in the European metalcore scene with bands like Neaera and Fall Of Serenity, and precisely for this reason, it has a déjà vu taste, yet it's listenable. "Quiet Place" seems like a sort of ballad that undergoes a metamorphosis to end with an unexpected death metal acceleration, but not quite what a listener of the genre expects. On the other hand, the melodies of the fourth and last "Blood" are not bad.

An EP that presents us with a band with good technical ideas and leaves us curious to hear them again soon, but expecting a higher quality record.

Summary by Bot

Karnae's first self-produced EP after three years presents a metalcore sound with thrash and death metal influences. While showcasing good guitar technique, the EP lacks consistent energy and has vocal issues. Standout tracks include the fast-paced opener 'Lucifer...' and the melodic 'Blood.' The review concludes that the band shows promise but still needs to improve the overall quality and impact of their work.

Karnae

Italian metalcore band from the northeast; described in DeBaser as a five-member group from the underground scene whose first self-produced EP showcases technical ideas but uneven execution.
