THE REVIEW

I ask her: "Kaki, why we have to pay one euro for your poster? It's paper... must be free.."
She shrugs and tells me: "I'm sorry... I don't know..."

I understand it's not her fault, I approach her and give her a kiss. Thus begins (and ends, if you wish) the greatest love story of all time.

Kaki King is a cute young American (but also not..) incredibly talented, her total height is no more than 150 cm, her voice is not much BUT HER HANDS, DAMN THOSE HANDS FLY ACROSS THE GUITAR'S FRETBOARD!!
Attending one of her concerts means being constantly teased in the ear, motivated and intrigued because the structure of the tracks (and the incredible way of playing them) is detached from the canonical structure allowing her effervescent technical and rhythmic digressions (but never self-indulgent) that make you ask:
"Is what I hear the result of years and years of hard work or simply an instinctive ad minchiam approach?"

I still haven't figured it out... listen to her and form your own opinion. In the live performance, she presents tracks from "Everybody Loves You" and the new "Legs To Make Us Longer" rolling out legendary pieces like "Playing with pink noise", which in certain sounds reminds me of Mitchell from Mingus, and "Close Your Eyes And You'll Burst Into Flames" (never was a title more appropriate) that first seduces you, as soon as it notices your distraction it grabs you by the shirt, squeezes you to release you just a moment before burning you... chilling...
Not everything is perfect though because the moments of uncertainty coincide with her picking up the electric guitar; which could fix her with annoying boundaries and it would be a shame because without a doubt she is the best guitarist of our generation, she has so much talent and ideas that they paradoxically need to be organized.

Then there's the posters issue (which was so fateful...); it's fine to sell gadgets and CDs but a poster for one euro (and I saw about thirty sold when you could already snatch it from the venue's outer wall) is ridiculous, it's shitty marketing that made me too angry and understandably Kaki, a blossoming girl, can only shrug.

I LOVE YOU KAKI

Summary by Bot

The review praises Kaki King's exceptional guitar skills and unique live performance in Palermo, highlighting her technical talent and intriguing track structures. While the electric guitar moments felt less confident, her acoustic playing shines as among the best of her generation. A minor complaint about overpriced posters at the concert slightly dims an otherwise affectionate appraisal.
