The Profile

Kadef (also known as Kadef Abgi) is a Montreal-rooted ensemble documented on the 2023 double LP “Kadef”, arranged and produced by Devin Brahja Waldman. Built from pure, collective improvisation, the project blends jazz, krautrock motorik, and North African/Gnawa elements, with Ziad Qoulaii’s voice as its magnetic core.

Double LP pressed in 1000 copies; recorded in Montreal by Mathieu Pelletier-Gagnon; mixed and produced by Devin Brahja Waldman; mastered by Mark Gergis; artwork by Ala Dehghan; layout by Ilja Tulit; core voice: Ziad Qoulaii; ensemble includes Anas Jellouf, Vicky Mettler, Sam Shalabi, Anass Hejam, Hamza Lahmadi Kenny, and Rachid Salamate.
