THE REVIEW

- The problem with pogo is that you shouldn't resist. - I'm explaining to the girl next to me who asked me to defend her.
- Be careful to face our fears head-on. - I warn her
- My friend Nina was afraid of spiders and one day she decided she wouldn't let those furry little creatures scare her anymore, and now she's huddled in her room staring at the wall. -

And anyway, tonight the space at Estragon is so packed that only a slight swaying is expected; not very rough seas to the north. Juliette arrives in aerobics gear and kicks off with “Shelter You Needs.” Even though it's been a long time (I consider the performance in Strange Days a true concert), I think her childlike yet killer smile hasn't changed, especially when she flirts with the guitarist to the notes of “Seven Sign.” In the middle of “I Never Got Tell You,” the power goes out: complete darkness. Someone shouts “Unplugged,” someone else “I Wanna Be Your Dog” (what the heck does that have to do with anything?) but miraculously it works, the light returns. At a certain point, she says “Do you like Van Halen?” and I think that in the end, I only know “Ain’t Talking ’bout Love” and that one promptly follows. In the end, even the much-invoked Iggy Pop, evoked like a ghost throughout the concert, comes out into the open, and she bids us farewell with a robust "Search & Destroy." The evening is over, the girls are gone, and as Juliette would say, “But then you turn and walk away Say goodbye to another day…”
