The director is the same as "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" and "Cable Guy"; so we already know what to expect, almost slapstick comedy with fairly absurd scenes and dialogues. And indeed, the result is a nice little comedy that certainly doesn't make you laugh to tears, but it does make 90 minutes pass by peacefully. The lead actress, Katherine Heigl, proves to be not only very cute but also captivating in sparkling roles; probably this film served as a training ground for her new "27 Dresses."
If for Ellen Pompeo, Grey's Anatomy was a great achievement at the threshold of 40, Heigl, much younger, after Roswell and the medical TV show, has moved definitively to the sparkling cinema, with enjoyable results already from this excellent BlockBuster movie.
But let's get to the film: it's the story of a young TV assistant who, after being promoted from behind the camera to on-air, goes out with her older sister to celebrate the promotion in an exclusive Los Angeles club; the evening takes an unusual turn when, unable to get served at the bar, she meets Ben (Seth Rogen), an overweight, slacker Jewish guy who manages to get her a beer and approaches her during the evening. The night, for him, an eternal nerd, cannot end any better than between the sheets with the beautiful Alison. Small detail, both are completely drunk and have unprotected sex... Surprise, a baby is due in 9 months. I won't continue with the film's story to not take away the pleasure of watching this film, which, if it doesn't cause roaring laughter, does have some very funny gags like the scene where the two make love again when she is already six or seven months pregnant... Hilarious. Despite some events that will jeopardize the future of the couple, a happy end is guaranteed.
Recommended to anyone.
