Juan Rulfo

Mexican writer and photographer (1917–1986), best known for El Llano en llamas and Pedro Páramo; noted for spare, minimalist prose.

Born 16 May 1917, died 7 January 1986. Author of El Llano en llamas (1953) and Pedro Páramo (1955). His work is considered foundational for aspects of Latin American magical realism and is widely cited as influential by later writers.
