Hey folks,
when I found out that I could also review a TV series, I thought... Heck, why not? And especially, why not start with my favorite show?
"Buffy The Vampire Slayer" created by Joss Whedon is undoubtedly one of the cult TV shows of the last 15 years.
The saga is divided into 7 seasons (later from the eighth onwards, it becomes a wonderful comic book series) that tell the adventures of Buffy Summers, a young American girl who finds herself chosen to fight against vampires, demons, and the like: the Slayer.
Every generation has its Slayer, and indeed as soon as one dies, another is immediately called.
In her adventures, which she experiences in the imaginary town of Sunnydale (otherwise known for obvious reasons as the "Mouth of Hell"), Buffy is helped by friends Xander and Willow, her watcher (who is more like a second father), Mr. Giles, and other friends or love interests of the main characters (Angel, Spike, Anja, Oz, Cordelia, Tara).
The TV show plays on two essential aspects: it combines horror and fantasy with the classic teen drama like "Beverly Hills 90210", achieving a perfect mix.
Also very touching is the relationship between the supporting characters, who over time transform from merely a gang of friends into a real family.
Interesting is also the maturation of the characters within the series, with increasingly intriguing social topics (homosexuality, drug addiction here revisited in a magical vein, the death of loved ones...)
The series is never trivial; for most episodes, it is thoroughly enjoyable, especially in the later seasons.
My rating is 5 stars.
