Josefus is an American rock band whose late-1960s/1970 releases Get Off My Case (1969) and Dead Man (1970) blend blues, southern rock, hard rock and psychedelia. The albums show strong moments and a raw sound but lacked a breakout mainstream hit.

Get Off My Case was originally released in 1969 in the USA; Dead Man followed in 1970 with some track changes. The two studio albums (Josefus and Dead Man / Get Off My Case) have been issued together on a double CD that compiles the studio recordings (excluding live performances); tracks originally cut from Get Off My Case have been reinserted on later compilations.

The review frames Josefus's Dead Man / Get Off My Case as a late-60s/1970 record that mixes blues, southern rock, hard rock and traces of psychedelia. The album is praised for raw riffs and a distinctive voice but criticized for lacking a standout hit and occasional repetitiveness. Recommended for fans of bluesy, heavy late-60s rock.

For:Fans of blues, southern rock, hard rock and early 1970s psychedelic rock.

An awful skull in the foreground occupies the entire cover of the album: "Dead Man" couldn't be clearer than that.
