Big question - for Jonsi in this case, but also for a reasonable number of Music-Biz Stars: why, after you've made wheelbarrows of money with a series of stunning albums, did you have to "ruin" yourself with the damned solo album operation?

-maybe because up until then you've written almost everything yourself, and the time has finally come to give your band a good kick in the pants?

-because you want to see if all, absolutely all, the fanZ will continue to love you madly in your very personal artistic journey?

-maybe because your manager-accountant suggested that it's fiscally advantageous?

-maybe because contracts are contracts and as such they must be respected?

Well, everyone can give the answer they like, but I have decided to clumsily write this little review with a bitter taste in my mouth and while blasting "Agaetis Byrjun" in my headphones, dated 1999, a work of superb beauty that even today "blows one's mind" and which, with the aforementioned "Go", I'm sorry to say, is as mismatched as the cat with the mouse.

Let's clarify, the album in question is not bad at all, it's immediately clear that after so much nostalgic melancholy, Jonsi finally wanted to communicate primarily joy and lightness, there are some commendable things ("Boy Lilikoi"), but the whole suffers from a rather acute "radio-friendly" sycophancy.

Our tender, angelic elf defended himself like this: "I had some songs that I had written for the group that had a mood that didn't fit the length of our usual tracks..." so why not package a nice little pop album with cute little songs max 4/5 min. each?

And so here he is singing almost everywhere in English, but don't worry, you still can't understand a thing!

For those who've never heard of Sigur Ros, "Go" is a little disc that, thanks to increased and deconstructed rhythms ("Go Do", "Animal Arithmetic"), works great, for others, I advise listening and swiftly archiving it under "useless albums," and finally, for those, like myself, who have toured Iceland with "( )" in the headphones, risking a heart attack from the emotion, I suggest staying well clear, and praying that the next Sigur album doesn't suffer from this (in)voluntary(?) drop in style... there, I've said it, I've freed myself!

Go Jonsi, go... but next time let's fight!
