Johnny Dyani

Johnny Dyani was a South African jazz double bassist and composer, a core member of Chris McGregor’s Blue Notes. Active from the 1960s until his death in 1986, he blended South African traditions with free jazz and worked with artists including Dudu Pukwana, Don Cherry, and Abdullah Ibrahim.
