John Patrick Shanley (born October 13, 1950) is an American playwright, screenwriter and film director. He wrote the play Doubt and the screenplay for Moonstruck; he adapted Doubt for the screen.

Pulitzer Prize for Drama (2005) for Doubt; Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay (1988) for Moonstruck.
