Birth name: John Errington; from the northeast of England. Breakthrough with Rebel (1976) and the single Music topping charts. Later notable as a sideman/live collaborator with Alan Parsons, Joe Cocker, Tina Turner and Jimmy Page. Upfront (1993) was his penultimate solo album. Died in 2021.

A single review spotlights John Miles as an underrated English rocker whose 1976 hit Music and album Rebel gave way to a respected sideman career. The piece champions Upfront (1993) as a late-career gem pitched between Clapton and Gary Moore, praising Miles’s resonant voice, sharp Les Paul tone, and lean, blues-rock songwriting. Highlights cited include Can’t Get Through, One More Day Without Love, Now That The Magic Has Gone, and Body Of My Brunette.
