Joel Coen (born November 29, 1954) is an American film director, screenwriter and producer, best known for the films made in collaboration with his brother Ethan Coen.

Joel Coen frequently co-wrote and co-directed films with his brother Ethan Coen from Blood Simple (1984) through The Ballad of Buster Scruggs (2018). He directed The Tragedy of Macbeth (2021) credited singly as director.
