Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros

Musical Group

Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros were the backing band for Joe Strummer's solo work from 1999 until Strummer's death in 2002, releasing Rock Art and the X-Ray Style (1999) and Global a Go-Go (2001) and touring internationally.

Joe Strummer (born John Graham Mellor) was the frontman of The Clash and led The Mescaleros for his later solo output. Strummer died in December 2002. The Mescaleros’ music blends punk, reggae, dub and world influences.

Three DeBaser reviews praise Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros for blending punk, reggae, dub and world influences. Streetcore is described as intense and emotionally fitting as a final chapter. Global a Go-Go is noted for its stylistic variety and maturity. The live Acton Town Hall recording underscores Strummer's connection to his roots and to political causes.

For:Fans of The Clash and listeners of punk, rock, reggae and world-influenced music.
