THE REVIEW

Few albums have annoyed me as much as this one.

I wonder: is it really worth dwelling on something?
Do we want to talk about the verbose length of the tracks (even 11 minutes!) for little voice and little guitar (and some inserts of harp and piano, here and there)?
Do we really want to talk about the tediousness pervading this whole double album (double, even!!) of lullabies, nursery rhymes, and cloying and sugary songs that make you break out in hives and gonorrhea simultaneously?
Do we really want to talk about the lyrics, romantic, dreamy, and ephemeral that could only possibly interest some hopeless neo-romantic misfit?
Sure, Joanna's beautiful crystal clear voice is wonderful, like a good new ager should be, the lightness of it all... but then?

What do we want to talk about? The leveling of the arrangements that doesn’t even let you perceive the transition from one track to another?

But, excuse me: is it worth my time to waste more on products of this caliber? And you, perhaps, to waste more time reading my nonsense disguised as "non-reviews"?

With all the indie and alternative production going around, why waste breath and energy trying to give a "sense" to these paranoid ballads, enjoyable just as background, those 20 minutes when you're busy doing something else?

Okay Joanna, we get "your world"... thanks, yes... now, kindly, step aside and let us hear someone else as time is running out for everyone and there's a world of proposals to listen to.

And next time: feel free to leave us an EP with 4/5 tracks which is already sufficient!

No offense, eh?

"Have One On Me" is the step (but given the proportions of the work, I'd also say a dozen steps) toward and perhaps beyond maturity.

Its greatness makes it always more diverse, ever new with each passing listen.
