THE REVIEW

As you may have noticed, I particularly love female voices.

This Joan, in particular, has managed to captivate me through her poignant piano melodies.

Her feeble whispers that sweep through the darkness of my room, adorned with paintings and photos, while the dust gently and silently settles on the bookshelf, and rays of light slowly filter through the curtains. Her voice, unique and sensual, perpetually enters my soul, pricking it like a needle meeting the skin. As soon as the first notes of the splendid "Honor Wishes" remind me that the album is beginning, I let myself be lulled and overwhelmed, while that sublime voice shatters and destroys my glass-like soul. I close my eyes, as poetic and seductive images pass before me. Joan whispers to me with her friendly, almost maternal voice. No moan escapes my lips, which remain silent to listen to the soothing melody, slightly parted in the dim light. The song titles are simple, yet profound and beautiful: "Essere Amati", "Sopravvivere", "Verso L'America", almost as if they were small life chapters, tied together by a red wool thread forming a diary: pure and deep.

Joan continues to sing her simple and complex melodies, while her fingers glide swiftly and sensually over the piano keys. The emotion is overwhelming and takes over. The awakening is called "To America" and it's a love song shared with the great Rufus Wainwright. A whisper that fills the soul with great sweetness, then transforms into something lyrical, that ignites, shakes, vibrates. And through the dimness of my room, I finally manage to define the contours of Joan. Her voice is so pure it feels like she's singing in my ear, almost as if she has remained with me in that room: empty and dark, like my soul.

Someone managed to bring back my smile.
