THE REVIEW

(as you can see, these days I have nothing to do and I'm flooding the site with reviews... sorry)

The second album by jj72 is beautiful. It’s beautiful primarily because it has many more diverse sounds compared to the previous work; it’s still an album teetering between gothic and romantic that takes you on a mental journey just like the first one. The difference is that in this album everything is more pronounced: if in the first, the songs were just sad but well constructed, here they bring you to the brink of suicide, also thanks to the never "sunny" sounds, not even in the more lively tracks (but this does not mean that the compositions are not valid, on the contrary).

It's true, they resemble Placebo and Smashing Pumpkins, but by now everyone resembles everyone else, and if we were to base ourselves on this consideration, a good rock album would never receive the fateful 5/5.

The best songs on the album are "Sinking" and "7th Wave" where the morbid presence of dark atmospheres touches psychedelia (but without exaggeration) with infinitely repeated rhythms and bass lines worthy of the best Simon Jones (in the good old days).
Only downside: the bassist has recently left the band (this has absolutely nothing to do with the album, but I think it's a disappointment for all the guys).

Summary by Bot

The review praises JJ72’s second album for its increased musical diversity and deeply emotional gothic-romantic style. Though the album feels darker and more intense than their debut, the songs remain well-crafted. Key tracks like ‘Sinking’ and ‘7th Wave’ stand out with psychedelic undertones. Despite a recent bassist departure, the album is rated highly for its artistic value.
