THE REVIEW

..Hendrix on stage..

Hendrix and the completely still and mesmerized audience in front of this being who came from who knows where to express everything he had inside with the howls he managed to produce from his guitar.. Hendrix and the expressions of extreme passion and extreme ecstasy on his face... his closed eyes.. the mouth contorted as he played his macumbas... his voodoo rituals.. oh yes.. "voodoo child", the pinnacle of this epochal concert... hearing Hendrix.. seeing Hendrix letting his scream pass through his instrument... his inner hell burning more and more... ever more.. creating a sound with such a soul inside that yesterday, as today, as tomorrow, leaves the ears bleeding.

Seeing him attack, crush, squeeze his guitar in the extreme attempt to let everything out... beauty, violence, poetry, devastation, art... It seems he's truly alone on that stage, despite the audience and the band accompanying him... he had now surpassed every limit, and the mysticism that pervades his performance (seeing him play in that way is an almost mystical experience) confirms it in every note, in every movement, in every solo (I repeat: these are not solos, they are howls) shot up to the stars.

There will be the "Band of Gypsys" later.. and that last metaphysical experience that will be "machine gun"... but here.. here is Hendrix captured at his truest moment.. walking on the edge between salvation and damnation... but unfortunately already engulfed by the flames of self-destruction.
