Among the various posthumous albums released, this double CD is, in my opinion, one of the best. "Radio One" had already been released in a reduced version a few years earlier, which I immediately purchased, but here you really have almost all of Hendrix's production at the BBC.
At the time, many artists had this wonderful habit of strictly playing live on English radio to then broadcast them on the program. Mind you... live!!! The radio stations did not limit themselves to just playing the record on repeat, but artists re-recorded the pieces, sometimes even with new material. Before him, the Beatles, the Stones (when will they release something similar!!!), The Who, and many others.
In this compilation, alongside legendary tracks (Foxy Lady, Purple Haze, Hey Joe), we have the chance to hear Hendrix in what I believe is the greatest solo he ever recorded... the one on "Driving South" (note that there are two versions, but you can easily tell which one I mean), which pairs well with the one on "Come On" from "Electric Ladyland". This track was already played by him in the pre-Experience period.
Then we have many gems: the "Daytripper" which was rumored to feature the voices of Lennon and McCartney (not true!!!), the blues "Catfish Blues" and "Hoochie Coochie Man", a cover of a little-known piece by Dylan "Can You Please Crawl Out Your Window?" and even tracks rarely played live like "Love Or Confusion", "Wait Until Tomorrow", and "Manic Depression" which is shorter than the one from "Live at Winterland". The final gem is the jingle for the Radio One theme, written directly by Hendrix.
The audio quality is excellent, the CD is very easy to find and at an affordable price... so!!!
