THE REVIEW

Few albums manage to transport you to other places, to break through temporal spaces.
This album succeeds in this intent, just a little is needed, ce vo': a muted voice and a guitar loaded with reverb, like those overused by Mark Lanegan in his records, a slide guitar here and there, a violin to embellish everything, like the cherry on the cake.
And the places are those immense American spaces where Jesse, with his long raven mane, gently leads us by the hand.

His faithful companion from the easy guitar is Phil Wandscher, who once served in Whiskeytown, a partnership that bears succulent fruits. Take a jewel like Troubled Soul or that heartwarming sound contained in You Are Gotten Here, the mariachi echoes of The Dreaming Dead, and we'll stop here because each track has a story of its own, while seeming all united in a single embedded jewel.
