The rising star of Finnish pop presents us with this graceful touch veiled in deep and heartfelt melancholy. Jenni Vartiainen follows her previous EP "Ihmisten Edessä" (In Front of People), a piece driven by intriguing electro-pop threads, with this sweet ballad named "Tunnoton" (Numb), reminiscent of Sunday afternoons spent dreaming of missed feelings.
Jenni's graceful and velvety voice takes us by the hand into a whirlwind of seductive emotions, among lost loves and raindrops tinkling on the panes of solitary windows. The nostalgic passion is strongly felt in the gently acoustic opening, followed by the warm sigh of the beautiful singer, against a background of slow, penetrating melodies enriched by a barely hinted sitar and occasional chimes reminiscent of November bells. The soft keyboards sweeten the drama of a distant choir while the enchanting vocal threads conclude the piece, granting it the warmth of the most typically Finnish melancholy.
The video is beautiful, which, besides showcasing the allure of Vartiainen, perfectly expresses the solitude of the moments that follow evenings spent among the lights of venues and the bittersweet taste of many drinks...
An excellent debut that offers glimpses of originality and taste, even though it is based on the well-established threads of very classic pop to which the young Finn adds a touch of nostalgic fragility and delicacy. Well done.
