Belgian writer (born 1887, Ghent), celebrated author of gothic and weird fiction, best known for the novel Malpertuis and several story collections. He also published under the pseudonym John Flanders.

Born in Ghent in 1887; key works include Malpertuis and various story collections; wrote in French and was associated with Marabout editions and later Italian reissues. Published his first book (Les Contes du Whisky) in 1925. Died in 1964.
