"The Blueprint" is the Hip-Hop show of the new millennium! At the machines is the then-unknown Kanye West, and one of the most famous Rap producers: Just Blaze. In "Takeover", Kanye West samples the "Doors" and in "Hearts on The City", "Bobby Blu Band" in his famous "Ain't No Love, Hearts on The City". Just Blaze does even better by bringing the "Jackson 5" into Hip-Hop format in "Izzo" and Bobby Byrd, in his "I'm Not to Blame", in "You Don't Know". There's only one featuring, but the artist collaborating with "Jigga" is called Eminem!
In all this Soul and Rock, Jay-Z takes on his fierce rivals, particularly Nas: "No one wants to have problems with Jigga, ask Nas". After the death of Notorious B.I.G., the fight for the throne of the best Rapper in New York was becoming increasingly intense, and Jay-Z, with this Album, sent a very strong signal to his rivals, not only for the quality of the Album but also for the mastery on the microphone of the freestyler from Brooklyn.
Rolling Stone places it fourth among the best Albums of the decade (2000 - 2009), but this Masterpiece is also, unfortunately, remembered for another reason, namely the date of its release: September 11, 2001.
