THE REVIEW

It's Sunday. And it's hot. Too hot.

I've just made love with my girlfriend and I'm moderately satisfied. Only she has just gone to work (people who work even on Sundays for peanuts part 1) and I have an hour's break before I go back to work myself (people who work even on Sundays for peanuts part 2), so I start browsing YouTube looking for a short and immediate full album to fill this time without too much fuss. Channels of semi-unknown garage rock bands always give great satisfaction in these situations. I catch a glimpse of reatards, oblivians, j.c. satàn, thee oh sees...cool, nothing to add, but all already listened to, more or less. I mean, they're always there, but not this time. and then I see this ridiculous but catchy name (at least to me, it must be the heat): Japanther. duration: 28 minutes. top.

Don't ask me who the hell these Japanther are, nor what era they are from (late 90's?? who knows), nor where they are from (America, that's for sure), nor if they have done other things before or after this album (probably, I see other related links)...I don't feel like investigating at the moment. But they go by so smoothly. Nothing special, really...but they're okay. and that's exactly what's needed now.

What do Japanther do on this album? a bit of this, a bit of that. garage/noise/punk, fundamentally, with some sound collages of beats, drum machines, and keyboards that connect/alternate the very short tracks. Oh, there's also a cover of "boys don't cry" (by the Cure, of course) towards the end. which fits, that too.

Now I'm getting dressed and going back to work, see you!

Summary by Bot

This review captures a casual and laid-back listening experience of Japanther's album Skuffed Up My Huffy. The album is described as a smooth blend of garage, noise, and punk with brief tracks tied together by sound collages. It includes an enjoyable cover of The Cure's 'Boys Don't Cry.' Although not groundbreaking, the album fits well as a simple, effective soundtrack.
