Jack Cardiff (1914–2009) was a British cinematographer and film director, noted for his work in Technicolor. He won the Academy Award for Best Cinematography for Black Narcissus and later directed films including The Girl on a Motorcycle (1968).

Renowned as a cinematographer (notably Black Narcissus and The Red Shoes) and later a director; credited with influential Technicolor cinematography; directed The Girl on a Motorcycle (1968), released in Italy as Nuda sotto la pelle.

A single featured review (Confaloni) criticises Jack Cardiff's 1968 film The Girl on a Motorcycle (Italian: Nuda sotto la pelle) for weak direction, sexist and racially problematic moments, and obvious technical shortcomings (visible stunt doubling and rear-projection). The reviewer considers Marianne Faithfull attractive but underused and suggests Cardiff's strengths were in cinematography rather than directing.

For:cinephiles, film students, critics interested in cinematography and 1960s European/British cinema

As I hinted above, the film is ultimately disappointing, and the reasons are quickly explained.
