Isaac Asimov (1920–1992) was an American author and biochemist best known for his science fiction and popular science works, including the Foundation series and numerous short stories.

Born in 1920 in Russia (then Russian Empire) and emigrated to the United States; prolific writer of science fiction and popular science; author of the Foundation series and many short stories; published from 1939 until 1992; used the pseudonym Paul French.
