I am the first to review an album that will soon flood Debaser (a nearly certain prediction), namely the latest release by the Maiden... No, no, hands off your hair, not a new album, but another of their 3000 Best Ofs, although this one is different, because it includes the best of Iron Maiden's career, that is, the albums from "Iron Maiden" (1980) to "Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son" (1988).

This collection, apart from being the usual Iron stunt for making heaps of money, also serves to somewhat understand the fantastic new tour that the six are embarking on, the Somewhere Back In Time Tour, which indeed includes in its setlist their greatest hits from '80 to '88 (except "Fear Of The Dark" which is oddly included... Meh... Mystery...).

Talking about the album: it contains the usual classics like "The Number Of The Beast", "The Trooper", "Run To The Hills", "2 Minutes To Midnight", etc., but it also includes tracks never inserted in any of their Best Ofs like "Children Of The Damned", or live tracks taken from the album "Live After Death" ("Churchill's Speech", "Aces High", "Phantom Of The Opera", "Wrathchild", and "Iron Maiden").

Another mystery... Is it intentional that the 3 songs taken from the first 2 albums are extracted from "Live After Death" and therefore sung by Bruce Dickinson?... Oh well... Okay, it's not a mystery, it's clear that it’s on purpose... Even if Bruce is a very good singer, I believe he cannot sing Di'Anno's songs as he did... Their choice...

In conclusion to this brief review (not that there's much to say, since it's a Greatest Hits, and since almost everyone knows the songs), I recommend the album to the inexperienced 12/13-year-olds who know Iron Maiden because they have heard "Different World" or "Fear Of The Dark" or "Dance Of Death", to make them understand what Iron Maiden really were.

See you next time! \m/,
