THE REVIEW

Every time I listen to this album that my friend thetrooper lent me, I ask myself: how the hell can he listen to such garbage. Because "Dance of Death", the second to last album by Iron Maiden is really an immense piece of crap!

The virgins had started well when they played with Paolo Danno, a singer of Italian/Sicilian origin who had written masterpieces like Iron Maiden and Killers. But then they took on this nobody Brus Dikinson and began their decline! Fortunately, Blaze Bailiy (Bud Spexer’s uncle) arrived in 1995, otherwise Maiden would have ended in 1994 when Dikinson left! With Blaze, they made 5 beautiful albums with industrial/gothic/doom tones and we remember the beautiful collaboration between Maiden and Nine inch Nails on the song "La Vida Loca", which was later stolen by Riki Martino. But then, since Dikinson hadn’t made money on his own, he came back home and Blaze was kicked out. After the horrible "Breiv Nu Word" where they covered Korn and Suffocation, Maiden in 2003 played this dance of death, their worst album.

It opens with "Wildest Dreams", a song clearly in a pop rock style that copies the splendid "Lod" by Metallica and in which Dikinson expresses the worst (the only) side of his crappy voice! The second, "rainmaker", is already something somewhat better because it seems to come from an Incubus album with its faster refrain and its commendable drum riff, but it’s maybe the only good track. More copying from Metallica of "Relod" for "JNo More Liese", a song too long and annoying that you just can't stand! Among other disgusting songs, there’s "Montesicuro" which deals with the climb on a Monte Seguro made by Dikinson with his wife and Steve Arris' father. More pop with the song "GiurneimEN", similar to "Numb" by Linkin Park but with nicer and better-tuned guitars, the introduction with keyboards in "Paschendale" is nice, but for the rest, the album can go screw itself!

Harris and co. have defied expectations and surprised everyone a bit.

You won’t find any earth-shattering musical upheavals, but a pleasant, curious, and catchy evolution in the timeless music of the greatest Heavy-metal band ever... THE IRON MAIDEN!!

Dance of Death could easily be defined as 'boring but with class,' a work created by old glories who now create music with the same emotional drive with which an employee punches a time clock.

The first and so far only fully acoustic track by the group reveals an unprecedented and surprising component of the group's sound tapestry.

 THE ABSOLUTE SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A huge disappointment, don’t buy it.

The repetitiveness of the songs is increasingly overwhelming and it has become automatic to wonder why they continue to churn out such similar songs even after more than 20 years of career.

A mediocre album that I do not recommend purchasing except to attempt to trace a nonexistent evolution of a band that has withered over the years.

Montegur: in my opinion the most beautiful track of the album, very heavy in the riffs but endowed with splendid effects given by the overlap of multiple guitar parts.

The aforementioned songs absolutely make the purchase of the album worthwhile which for me, after 'A Matter Of Life And Death', is, along with 'Brave New World', the most beautiful album by Iron.
