This time we've got it. While with the penultimate album, "Magnificent Glorification Of Lucifer", the masterpiece was only brushed, this time Inquisition has made it. "Nefarious Dismal Orations", released in May 2007, is an album of pure black metal in which nothing is missing.
Melody, rage, atmosphere. An album that borders on perfection if compared to most black albums released recently, but not just that, an album that borders on perfection in absolute terms.

As already mentioned, the musical proposal of the Colombian duo is a malignant black metal, full of outbursts and slowdowns, of excellent quality melody, mind you, a melody that remains very dark, gloomy, which within the context of their sound is absolutely spot on.

But what does this album have better compared to its predecessor? First of all, we are faced with a mature album, written with great skill and with a "muddy" production, yet pleasant, certainly better than "Magnificent Glorification Of Lucifer". Fundamentally, the sound remains unchanged, but in this case, the riffs are icier, truly dark and gloomy, even more so than the last album. Dagon's voice is not the usual harsh screaming that has become popular in recent black releases, but a chilling lament that almost seems cybernetic, this characteristic gives the band something extra, an integral element of a very original sound.

As far as the technical-instrumental aspect is concerned, listening to Inquisition, one cannot certainly cry out for a miracle; this certainly does not detract from the product. Incubus is not an exceptional drummer, but he unleashes a significant energy, his style is perfect in this musical context. Dagon's guitar riffs are excellent, not elaborate but truly beautiful, especially the cadenced and more melodic parts. I remind you that Inquisition, despite being only two, manage to create a full sound that is never flat.

But let's now analyze the album in detail.

"Nefarious Dismal Orations"  consists of 9 songs, almost all about five minutes long, with a few exceptions, such as the instrumental "Enter The Cult", the direct "Infernal Evocation Of Torment" and the sublime "Where Darkness Is Lord And Death The Beginning", of well 7 minutes.  Each piece has truly beautiful, inspired moments, not even a filler, for the entire duration of over 45 minutes, the album maintains very high levels, never a drop, always engaging. For the writer, the best piece is the sixth track, the longest on the album, "Where Darkness Is Lord And Death The Beginning", I'm not exaggerating, but this is one of the most beautiful black songs I've ever heard, it creates an extraordinary ancestral atmosphere, with very dark sounds and not a single second of drop. A track by track analysis would be of little use since all the pieces are extremely beautiful and to be discovered with each listen; as I have already said, there is not the slightest trace of a weak piece, even the instrumental, as a prelude to the last and apocalyptic "Before The Symbol Of Satan We Vow And Prise", proves to be extremely fitting.

But what should make you buy this album at all costs, besides what has already been said in this review? Simple, the originality of the group.  Inquisition is not a clone band like many others, they are absolutely unique, they know how to blend with great taste the icy riffing of Mayhem, the primitive sound of the best raw black metal bands, and the stunning gloomy and evocative melodies, reworking everything with extreme personality, but above all, in an impeccable manner.

Inquisition is currently one of the best black metal realities on the world scene, this album testifies to it, absolutely one of the best releases of the genre in recent years. If you like black metal, you won't be disappointed, an extraordinary album, a masterpiece that should be listened to in its entirety, to be swept away by the extraordinary atmosphere that these great musicians know how to create.
