LA RECENSIONE

Nonsolounz. This wonderful double album by Infected Mushroom released in 2003 showcases the many facets of their musical universe. One entirely "trance" disc and a second one featuring (also) songs to listen to without (necessarily) moving your buttocks and without (necessarily) taking performance-enhancing substances.
Rock-origin musicians, disgustingly young and disgustingly talented (that's pure envy from me), after three albums at 140 BPM ("The Gathering", "Classical Mushroom", and "B.P. Empire") decide to venture into territories so far unexplored by them, trying to appease those who criticized them for the total absence of "song form". A partially successful operation, in the sense that the song form, if present, is decidedly personal and questionable, but undoubtedly fascinating.

The first disc contains some hypnotic masterpieces ("Albibeno" and "Yanko Pitch" above all) that will lodge themselves in your brain, and you'll be forced to delete the files from your mp3 player to avoid listening to them repeatedly, the second strings together a series of "songs" that, albeit with some stylistic lapses, demonstrate the boundless skill of the two Israelis in composition and studio production (to this end, on their official website, you can find some photos of their little studio as well as the list of equipment used; little money, a lot of brains).
This second CD "other side" contains, among others, the wonderful "I wish", a splendid electronic song with an interesting and suggestive text, and the beautiful "Shakawkaw", later re-proposed in a nice live version in the 2005 EP "Stretched".

This work and the following "I'm the supervisor" (2004) can provide MONTHS of pure enjoyment for all electronic music lovers; if you have ever tried in your life to use a synth and a sequencer, listen to what these two crazies concoct and you will understand how talented they are.
Come on, Infected; one last touch to reduce the cheesiness and you will replace Kraftwerk in my heart.
