THE REVIEW

“How mean they are!...what did you say they're called?”
“In Flames”
“oh, but they are really cool, listen how he screams...damn oh, this is way better than the crap MTV shows us...goddamn all those on MTV, they should broadcast these In Flames...”
“yeah...you're absolutely right”
“I mean, no, let me explain, the point is that these guys are so alternative, you see...this kind of music makes you think, it's that the government, damn those bastards in the government don't want us to think, you understand? Look at the titles...I mean, even the letters in parentheses so that word has two...how do you say oh?”
“...meanings”
“yes exactly, it has two meanings...more than the bullshit they teach us in that damn school, they should let us read these lyrics, not those crap books.”
“yeah”
“then listen, they also use keyboards, I mean, they are refined types, they're people who damn studied music...then oh, the guitars...listen to how they scratch, they told me they use special distortions for this album”
“yes, probably”
“oh but sure this music pumps eh...damn oh but you know what they remind me of?”
“no”
“come on, you know that band...damn the one with the two half-wit guitarists with braids, come on...the one that also had the guitarist with the four-string guitar that he held almost upright...come on damn...they had the first letter reversed so you could read it in the mirror too, like the stickers on those damn ambulances, come on..”
“Korn?”
“there you go, well done...oh but they really resemble them...even the drums with all those hits...they told me they use like a thing...like a double pedal or something like that to make more noise, understand? I mean, this way they're more aggressive...but they're also melodic, listen to this riff oh, is it melodic?”
[(small serious parenthesis: indeed, the melody present in the songs is very close to that dear to self-made nu metal bands that are rampant everywhere, but the even more worrying thing is that it also resembles that present in just as many late Swedish death bands end of serious parenthesis) which means in short Swedish death=nu metal end of parenthesis]
“yes yes”
“damn oh thanks for introducing me to this band, they really know their stuff, then damn they're also Swedish, imagine how many blondes they bang every day, huh?”
“yeah...”
“what hotties..”

Ultimately, a parody not too real, not too funny, but not really a parody either. In Flames have become more electronic Korn or alternatively Soilwork/Darkane more nu. Congrats for the shift, too bad you arrived a bit late. Last on the bandwagon and not even among the best attractions of the circus. Oh and I almost forgot Reroute To Remains=Soundtrack To Your Escape.

Summary by Bot

The review offers a sarcastic critique on In Flames' album Soundtrack To Your Escape, highlighting the band's shift towards a nu metal sound reminiscent of Korn. It suggests the album is less original and more a latecomer to a popular trend, losing some of its previous identity. The reviewer notes the use of electronic elements and melodic riffs but regards the overall album as less compelling within the metal scene.

In Flames

In Flames are a Swedish metal band from Gothenburg, widely associated with (and often credited as pioneers of) melodic death metal. Reviews on DeBaser focus on their influential 1990s/early-2000s run and the later stylistic shift toward more mainstream, electronic, alternative/metalcore-leaning elements that divided listeners.

It’s just that this time they added a few more ingredients (hints of nu metal and metalcore) that have somewhat taken away the flavor from In Flames’ recipe.

The album kicks off with the furious 'F(r)iend,' a typical song of the typical In Flames style with a shouted and raspy growl, very precise drumming, and riffs that sometimes veer into melodic and classic heavy.
