The Profile

Illusion Of Safety is an isolationist/experimental music project set up in the late 1980s by Dan Burke. The project made industrial/avant-garde electronic works; Jim O'Rourke collaborated on a trilogy from 1990–1992.

More Violence And Geography was released in 1988. A 2002 reissue by Germany's Die Stadt includes the bonus live track "Unknown Quantity" (1991). Dan Burke is named as the founder; Jim O'Rourke is credited as a collaborator for 1990–1992. The project uses synthesizers and computers extensively.

A positive, detailed DeBaser review praises Illusion Of Safety's 1988 album More Violence And Geography for exploring industrial textures without sheer noise. The project is described as Dan Burke's late-'80s isolationist/avant‑garde endeavour with rotating collaborators (Jim O'Rourke appears 1990–1992). The 2002 Die Stadt reissue adds a 1991 live bonus track.
