THE REVIEW

Finally!

Here it is, just what we needed. A blast of nu-metal made in New Jersey with completely tribal influences from Latin America. This third work of theirs is a great album that has inevitably taken a significant emo core turn compared to previous records.

More similar to the first than that fake teen advertisement 'Confession', Ill Niño rediscover themselves as one of the last and few pioneers of a genre that has come to an end. The CD opens with a heavy track both in lyrics and music "This is war" where the American sung parts and the South American parts alternate very well, as in the rest of the album. It continues with songs of the same power and impact without ever declining in quality. "My resurrection", "What You deserve", "Turns to gray" all excellent works that make their way smoothly in the current panorama of the genre. Then we have what most might consider the most commercial, but I consider it the sweetest of the album: "My pleasant torture" with the caliente rhythms of a Santana with crisp and decisive riffs and a great text.

As for the other songs, the level remains high like "De la vida", the most "soulfly" of the album, "Turns to gray" with a melancholic vein and "In this moment" the most carefree. I really enjoyed this work which has its weakest side in the slight monotony of the structure of its songs (though less than in the past) like the almost obligatory interlude of the Latin guitars as their trademark. For the rest, the album remains a masterpiece that rewards this talented sextet from New Jersey, which in my opinion has the merit, besides the quality of the album, of knowing not to copy their mates Soulfly of the legendary Max Cavalera and almost never repeating themselves.

Well done
