To be placed in the vein of the one-woman band trend aimed at exploring the current normalized independent subculture, Ill Ease (a project managed by Elizabeth Sharp, previously also with New Radiant Storm King and Skinner Pilot) offers us her new work, following "The Exsorcit" on Too Pure, a couple of live shows, and other short releases. Pop, polite rock, soul, jazz, funky, lo-fi, a bit of electronic appeal, something riot (but without getting their hands dirty), a certain rhythmic redundancy created with the aim of generating groove and just the right amount of eccentric/offbeat (never visceral) that makes it "in," within such contexts.
The tracks don't follow linear evolutionary and structural plots, yet the constant melodic output (although not obvious, but this is what can be inferred from listening) places her among Peaches, Breeders, Devo, Sonic Youth, and even a bit of Velvet Underground, but clearly on a lower level. I'd say it's not worth spending too much time on "All Systems A-Go-Go!".
