ILENIA ROMANO - Fari contro
(Believe Digital Services)
Five unreleased tracks, five covers. This is where Ilenia Romano's true musical journey begins (she had already released an album, but it was a record of covers only). And it's a clear path, right from the choice of covers, for Ilenia, who chooses to reinterpret Baglioni, Giorgia, Laura Pausini, and a "heavyweight" classic of Italian pop music like "Almeno tu nell’universo" by Mia Martini. The evaluation of the album could start right here. And it's a good evaluation, because Ilenia shows she can make it her own, handling such an imposing song without stumbling. So let's move on to listening to the "unreleased" tracks, where she bares her soul, telling her own story but also, as she herself explains about the lyrics, telling the stories of all of us. Because her stories are about life, where one day everything goes well, and the next day it's a mess. It's a well-made album, featuring a host of professionals from the Italian music scene (notably Mirco Ferdenzi, who has worked with the likes of Nek, Paola Turci, Francesco Gabbani), offering us a sound that is modern yet classically pop.
