What I'm about to review today is the second studio album from my favorite Italian band, Il Teatro Degli Orrori, whether because they make quality music, because they have a frontman I'd pay even to watch him poo, or because they have a non-conformist look... I love them to pieces!

Their first album represented a kind of post-punk music associated with consistently quality noise-rock. The work in question was ''Dall'impero alle tenebre'' which was very good and of high quality, but nonetheless, it didn't completely convince me. This ''A Sangue Freddo,'' on the other hand, I find to be a step forward especially for Pierpaolo Capovilla (the group's leader) where in vocal expression he seems to have grown exponentially and the other members of the band also seem more logistic in what they do, and every note, chord, etc. seems to be in the right place at the right time.

After this brief introduction, let's immediately start with the melodic ''Io Ti Aspetto '' which, in my opinion, is one of the best tracks on the album, thanks to a Capovilla afflicted by family sufferings and a very respectable instrumental part.

''Due'' is paradoxically the second track on the album and is also one of the weaker pieces because of some sounds that are a bit too pop-rock rather than noise, and also because of lyrics that I find little good in.

''A Sangue Freddo'' is the title track and in my opinion, it is also the best piece of the entire work, hard rock sounds and a no-frills text make this song a true gem for every band lover!

We continue with ''Mai Dire Mai,'' a piece with very dark but at times fun and carefree sounds. The track is engaging, and after a couple of listens, one will already start to memorize a good slice of the song.

Released as the second single (after the title track) ''Direzioni Diverse'' represents a kind of dialogue between Pierpaolo and his father, a reflective and at times mystical text makes us think that in this life we are all a bit unfortunate on a family level, and perhaps we should be better people with ourselves and our loved ones.

''Il Terzo Mondo'' is a piece that talks (like most of the songs on the album) about social commitment, and once again our beloved Pierpaolo makes us understand the big mistakes we make in certain situations (I won’t elaborate too much as there’s a lot to talk about here!!!)

The next two pieces, ''Padre Nostro'' and ''Majakovskij,'' are somewhat wiser compared to those listened to so far. Perhaps the instrumental part is too overlooked for the textual part (especially in the latter), but in any case, gaining some culture by listening to them doesn't hurt... quite the opposite!

We now find ourselves at the beautiful ''Alt!'' which talks about people wanting to emigrate from place to place and the respective checks for exercising this right, Pierpaolo, to make the text more reflective, also makes references to fascists and especially to communists.

''E' Colpa Mia'' is the last single released from the album, and I must say that once again the band did not disappoint, fun lyrics and a well-done instrumental part, what more do you want from a genius like Pierpaolo and his disciples?

And now we come to something masterfully curated and beautiful... ''La Vita E' Breve,'' after the title track this is the best song on the album, moving lyrics and music that balance the textual part in a perfect mix of poetic and instrumental skill.

The album closes with a very beautiful track named ''Die Zeit'' which lasts about fifteen minutes with various poetic reflections of this great artist that is Pierpaolo Capovilla.

What to say... great album, great Capovilla, and great ITDO, I absolutely recommend you to listen to this album if you want to increase your musical culture and if you want to become slightly better people instead of conformists who barely know the basics of music!

A work that is a punch in the stomach given with love.

The music is unexpectedly pop-rock... Pierpaolo lashes out against the sentence and cries for revenge.

Pierpaolo Capovilla proves to be among the greatest songwriters of the current Italian scene.

'A Sangue Freddo' is a bitter and full of anger album, composed of words that display the insecurity and discomfort caused by everything that goes wrong in this world.

‘I have nothing against Il teatro degli orrori, but I sincerely didn’t even intend to suffer so much for an hour and a half of music.’

‘Life is still worth living, and those like you, Carlo Cimmino, who do not have the courage to live theirs to the fullest make me disgusted.’
