LA RECENSIONE

Is it possible that no one knows this band???

It's true, they are not very well-known, partly because they've only made 3 or 4 albums... In any case, they are an Italian progressive band, although when summing it all up, it could almost turn out to be a kind of metal. Unfortunately, they haven't had much success, either here or abroad.

"Io come io" is their second work (I believe), and it's an album that lasts just over 28 minutes, but it's also full of interesting elements both musically and lyrically. The complete sequence of tracks is a sort of quest for one's own self, a search for identity.

The tracks are 4:

1) Io

2) Fenomeno (divided into two parts: "Proiezione" and "Rappresentazione")

3) Non io

4) Io come io (An excellent conclusion, again in 2 parts: "Divenire" and "Logica")

It's an album that's rather difficult to describe, but all fans of Italian prog should listen to it at least once. They may not be at the level of Le Orme or PFM, but they are definitely not to be ignored.

Also worth listening to is "La bibbia," their first album...

Il rovescio della medaglia

Il Rovescio della Medaglia is a Roman progressive rock band formed at the end of 1970. After earning an RCA deal via the Viareggio Avant-Garde and New Trends Festival, they issued a classic trilogy: La Bibbia (1971), the Hegel-inspired Io come io (1972), and Contaminazione (1973), which reworked ideas from Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier with arrangements by Luis Enríquez Bacalov. Known for ferocious live shows, a massive amplification setup, and early albums recorded without keyboards.
