The journey of Piccolo BU shows no signs of slowing down, and in attempting to break the brilliant crystalline nature of their debut album, they open up new sound spaces that are decidedly more British. Ten tracks of slow evolution, composed during the pandemic period, saw the light only on March 19, 2022: it's been four years since the previous long-play “Noi siamo del 2000”, and the band from Irpinia has preserved much of what was commendable in the previous discographic chapter, adding new elements to their sound.
The present sounds like a melancholic and impactful retro-wave: tracks like “Menta”, “Va tutto bene” and "Stanza bianca" make you nod your head and move your hips, animating a vintage-flavored dancefloor that's updated with clarity, while "Balsamo" is the classic radio hit to listen to and re-listen to a thousand times. And if the sound dimension is satisfying, the lyrics certainly do not disappoint: Piccolo bu has stories to tell, emotions that are turned into words and are not just there to escape the dynamic “verse-chorus”. There is content, tracks to listen to presented through a unique artistic register, developed over many years of music: four musicians from Campania who condense international sounds into an artistic manifesto that wasn’t designed at a table to prepare potential alternative hits, but that has closed a circle showing great consistency. In these times, that's certainly no small feat.
