"Amor, ch'a nullo amato amar perdona"

That love, humanly unknown, that love so pure, which even if unrequited manages to reflect its sweetness penetrating the soul, not abandoning even after death, forgotten by darkness. Paolo Malatesta and Francesca da Polenta, lovers and adulterers in life. Their delicate souls were tormented by the sufferings and pains from that erroneous human logic, tilting what is right and what is wrong, leading men to see merits through the reactions and inhibitions caused by the same threshold of their own preconceptions that modify the reactions and the reality of life. It is through the Fifth Canto of Dante Alighieri's "Divina Commedia" that our "Il Bacio Della Medusa" drew inspiration for their second album, the concept "Discesa Agl'Inferi D'Un Giovane Amante" (Black Widow).

A mature, romantic, passionate album, an alchemy of sounds and colors that finds its boundary between progressive and hard rock, through arrangements with folkloristic hues and lyrics laden with intensity and emotion. Tones that revive the seventies, with a clear reference to Deep Purple, PFM, Jethro Tull, and Pink Floyd. An astral journey immersed in the story of Paolo and Francesca, narrated and set to music with creativity and imagination. Pure poetry lies in the meanders of the concept, especially thanks to the expressive drama of Simone Cecchini, a spectacular voice for its ability to be flexible, to adapt, to paint the agony, hope, and pain that lies on the belly of the two lovers, dragged into the clutches of hell by human inequity. The bitterness, the malice, the regret are the feelings described by the Italian quintet illustrating a landscape worn out by darkness but cradled by a glimmer of light through the love of the two young people, forced to tear themselves apart by the pain because of the "violent storm" narrated by Dante in his "Commedia". It is the union of despair and harmony, of love and hate, a delicate soul with a sweet mantle and another dark one represented by the acrimony of man.

Orchestral arrangements and predominantly progressive drafts frame it, longed for by a breath of theatricality immersed in the art of "Il Bacio Della Medusa". Love demands its liberation, upon reaching the ethereal pinnacles of the souls now surrounded by their damnation. "Preludio: Il Trapasso" and "Confessione D'Un Amante" are the representation of the album's philosophy. Languid and dreamy ballads among violas and gentle voices, the poetry flows slow and lyrical in an idyllic panorama, beyond the solitude hidden in the hearts of Paolo and Francesca. Symphonism, harmony, musical technique, and grandiloquent lyrics form the subsequent chapters ("La Bestia ed il Delirio", "Recitativo: è nel buio che risplendono le stelle" and "Ricordi del Supplizio"), the classical guitars, the tenor sax, Simone's voice, Eva Morelli's flute, Brozzetti's guitars, the drums, the organ, the keyboards, and Petrini's vibraphone delight the arcane marches fringed in the musicality of the concept. Slow arpeggios, fabulous classical accompaniments adorn the wonderful "Melencolia","E Fu Allora Che Dalle Foamme Mi Sorprese Una Calda Brezza Celeste" and "Nosce Te Ipsum- La Bestia Ringhia In Noi". When the main theme rises again "Epilogo: Conclusione della Discesa agl’Inferi d’un Giovane Amante", those piano keys that speak of melancholy, the cry of the viola that does not stop playing, the memories, the paintings of that earthly life, the love never forgotten, those sinuous bodies worn out by man's atrocities...

"In the crowd we look for each other but darkness is among us, the book was a galeotto in the summer's heat, Francesca I love you, lean on my chest, I wish your hair would flutter on me. The pain of floundering to grasp your hands, remember the horrible iron tore our flesh, Francesca I love you for this eternity...."
