THE REVIEW

Is it possible that a true rock'n'roll animal like the Iguana was transformed by David Bowie into an almost crooner-like singer as he appears in the horrendous "Blah Blah Blah" of 1986? Is it possible that Iggy doesn't rebel against the terrible massification he was being reduced to? Naturally, yes, and here, following the commercial success of the shameful album mentioned, comes this violent explosion of pure rock'n'roll, solid like perhaps no other Iggy album, a real outburst that reignites in him the desire to return to being that stage animal he is.

A series of pure adrenaline surges, that's what "Instinct" is, which also opens a season of concerts among the most memorable of Iggy's career, leading to the creation of that beautiful album "Brick by Brick" and the continuation of a career that, aside from "Blah Blah Blah", has always lived at more than respectable artistic levels.
But let's get back to this anthem to rock'n'roll.
The intentions are crystal clear from the beginning with the guitar blasts of "Cold Metal" and with Iggy's voice returning to its animalistic nature, far from the pseudo-crooner of the previous album.
Raging forward with grit and speed with "High on You", while "Strong Girl" shows more inclination towards AC/DC-style hard rock.
Drum and bass drum beats, then comes the solid solo of "Tom Tom", a relatively slow track compared to the rest of the album, but no less hard and edgy for it.
Fury and speed reign supreme in "Easy Rider", apart from the intro that might lead you to believe it's a slow and dreamy track, but just wait 10 seconds and... GO!
Another simple but energetic guitar riff and here is "Power & Freedom", again a two-chord rocker, but come on, it's always been the genre where Iggy excels, right?
The catchiest track on the album is definitely "Lowdown", with Iggy’s voice calmer than usual (note, not crooner!!), becoming almost melodic.
Another big solo and off we go with "Instinct", here too the same previous discourse applies, two chords and that's it.
Martial rhythm for "Tuff Baby" (and obviously a big guitar sound prominently on display) and it closes beautifully with "Squarehead".

Warning, usage warning: abstain from listening for intellectuals, highly recommended instead for those who want a good dose of pure rock'n'roll. To be listened to at full volume!
