"My God, this piece is one of the most beautiful things ever recorded on this side of the planet. If the album is at this level, step aside! I mean... Callister with that voice and those flows could read the phone book and it would still sound good. But I had no idea he was writing this kind of stuff, and at such a level. As for the beat? Rating: 1000."
This is how Speaker Deemo (former member of the legendary crew of the Italian Rap Raggamuffin scene, Isola Posse All Star) expressed himself after listening to the single taken from "L'Avvento," "Frammento di Sole."
I Fluxer is a project born from the minds of Tayone, DJ and Turntabler from Salerno, former prominent member of the Turntablist collective Alien Army, appreciated not only in Italy but also at the European level and overseas, and Callister, former MC of 13 Bastardi (a leading group of the Neapolitan Rap scene), assisted by the fundamental contribution of Castì, in the beats and the writing of some verses, Callister's brother, also 13B. Conceived over two years, "L'Avvento" was released under the Relief Record label in October 2006 and features collaborations with important names from our scene such as Dj Gruff, Skizo, Rajasful!, Vinch, Inesha, Speaker Cenzou, O' Kiatt, 2Phast, Lorenzo Feliciati, Alessio Manna, and Bruno Briscik.
I Fluxer break out from any preset scheme, creating something not even remotely thought of in Italy within the Rap field, understood here as an experimentation and mixing of sounds. The sound produced by machines is often interchanged with parts played by real instruments, truly giving the idea of a highly varied product where pieces with a strong experimental vein alternate, where Tayone showcases the best of his knowledge, with moments of intense depth, where bass, trumpets, strings, and keyboards dominate, evoking most often atmospheres with vivid jazzy hues. Callister at the microphone is a real marvel, and he demonstrates it throughout the entire album, with his very technical and visionary style, which however rarely neglects substance, as in the opening "Per Il Mio Mostro," where the rhymes blend perfectly with Tay's skills, introducing us full-throttle into their world.
"Frammento Di Sole" is pure magic, the track produced by Castì, where an elegant drum set is enriched by a warm bass line and a fabulous piano riff, embellished with continuous trumpet inserts, all sealed by Callister's rhymes that strike straight to the heart. Castì proves his worth in production by handling two more tracks, "Colpi Di Rap," with strong Jazz influences, composed of strings and trumpet scratched at the end by Tayone, and "Ce L'Ho Storto," featuring Paura where Castì's solo verse in Neapolitan is a valid reason to listen to the album. The album moves to harder moments like "Cuori Freddi" with mega electronic-like production by Tayone and featuring Gruff, certainly one of the highest peaks of the entire work. In "Il Gusto Di Un Kabukimono" Callister surpasses himself in a piece in full Def Jux style. Tayone is monstrous once again. Rajasful! produces "La Leggenda," dreamy atmospheres and incredible brass accompany the actions of Cenzou and O' Kiatt. Also noteworthy is "Il Pescelto" with a super stylish Funky-Jazz base, where Callister even emulates Maradona, and "Il Cielo è il Limite," a track with moments of pure poetry, dedicated to the "brothers" who have passed away.
"L'Avvento" steps strongly away from a segment of Italian Hip Hop led for too long by "Bugiardi" and "Soli Uomini," who have ridiculed even that little bit of truth that remained afloat, elevating to the extreme that which is the meager Italian Rap scene, with an album that represents without a shadow of a doubt one of the highest peaks or even the highest ever reached.
